High Five 4 Friday! {Including a review of 2 new restaurants in Morgantown, WV}

I am trying to grow my blog.  I recently had a mentor meeting with Jessica Fike and part of my business plan going forward to to expand and actually use my blog more often.  Anyways, I follow The Small Things Blog and read it a time or two a week to get some girly advice/ideas.  She and her sister both celebrate the end of the week by picking 5 favorite things are their week.  Hence, the "high five for friday" was born.  It is a good way to link up your blog to others and get traffic, as well as a way to share your week with others.

Well, my favorite things somehow involve *two* different and new restaurants in Morgantown.  More on that later!

Here goes.

#1 New blue "popcorn necklace"
I'm loving this necklace I bought a few weeks ago.  80% off at NY & Co it was a whopping 5 bucks.  And I love wearing it.  Nuff said.

#2 The Wine Bar at Vintner Valley
Morgantown, WV
Burroughs Street
Last weekend I tried the "new wine bar" in town.  I met a newly acquainted friend for wine and a cheese plate.  The atmosphere is very "grown up" with an extensive wine menu.  They have plenty of reds and whites from all over the world, even Australia.  If you want to order a bottle, have no fear about finishing it: they will cork it for you and give u a to go bag! The menu lacks entrees, but it makes up for it in upscale appetizers including a cheese/meat/bread/wine crackers plate that even includes figs.  They have a long list of italian meats and cheeses to customize your app (ours is pictured).  I can't wait to go back and get a dessert with my red wine.  This visit didn't allow for time for dessert ;)  We have great company && conversation and then the night took us downtown Morgantown!  Before we left, we had a Coach Holgerson siting!

#3 The Fondue Factory
Morgantown, WV
High Street (right past Lira's)
Last night I experienced another new restaurant in Morgantown!  I def eat at restaurants more than I eat at home, which is not a good thing when you are trying to eat clean & healthy.  I had planned go to dinner with a friend as a late birthday celebration for her early Jan birthday.  We headed downtown and saw plenty of people traffic going into the new fondue restaurant.  We called ahead and since they were open we decided to check it out.

It is a nice-er atmosphere but not on the level of the wine bar.  Def not on that level.  The waiters/waitresses wear fidora-type hats and dressy black vests.

We started with the southwest chipotle appetizer.  The cheese was ok, but nothing amazing.  The waitress used her bare hands to put the cheese into the fondue pot.  Not trying to be too medically biased, but I don't think thats good practice for any public restaurant.  It was good and spicy though which I think made it better.  The appetizer cheese fondue comes with veggies (broccoli and carrots), bread (holy carbs), and green apples.  My favorite was def the green apples.  We opted to get salads instead of entrees and planned on dessert.

For the finale, we got the carmel chocolate fondue.  Pictured is the array of desserts to dip into the yumminess.  My favorite was def the bananas, my friends was the chocolate coffee cheesecake.  We were way too full to finish!

Overall, it was a fun experience, and def a good place to get a drink and dessert, and maybe have dinner/appetizer if you want to spend awhile at a restaurant cooking your own food at your table.  My advice, if you get the appetizer, leave the veggies/apples/etc in the cheese for at least 30-60 seconds, we learned our lesson after the first few bites it tastes better when hot & cooked a bit.  Go with girlfriends for dessert or maybe for a long dinner date.  Hopefully, they will realize telling everyone they wash their hands still doesn't make anyone feel better and its flu season people!  (influenza AND stomach bug/gastroenteritis!)

#4 My guardian angel
It snowed a good bit today - probably almost 2 inches.  I stayed at work about an hour or so catching up on busy work to let the traffic thin down a bit.  If you have ever driving in Morgantown from the hours of 4-6 pm on a day it snowed: beware.  Cars move so slow it may take u over an hour (maybe 2!) to get from the hospital area to Cheat Lake!!!! (some of the reasons we chose to buy land to build our future home in Preston Co, more on that in a future blog post)

Anyways, I left work around 530 or so and there were 2-3 people trying to quickly scrape the layer of snow off their cars.  Mine, surprisingly, had NO SNOW on the windshield or rear window.

My guardian angel cleaned off my car! (or, so I like to believe.)

#5 My new logo
I bought a marketing set mid-late last year which you notice is the pink/tan/grey floral theme I have all over my blog and marketing.  I tried using a "fancy" font and just typing out Kassandra Olgers Photography and it just wasn't looking quite right to me.  I had the same graphic designer fashion me a logo to match and voila! my new logo was born.  *Hopefully* I can stick with this one!  It is much more me and seems to fit with my new boudoir focus better.  Anyways, me and my new logo are headed to a bridal fair Sunday @ the Waterfront Hotel in Morgantown WV.  Ill head down there *after* my 3rd boudoir session this week!  Lots of Valentine's Day surprises coming to hubby's in the area!

Hope you enjoyed my review of the 2 new restaurants in town and my 5 *favorite* things about this week!

If you have a blog... Join in!  Or... have you been to either of these restaurants yet?
