Something new is now included in investment for your boudoir session.  The past 3 clients (all in the past few weeks!) have all requested a professional head shot that is Facebook appropriate.  Why not? Most ladies choose to add add on make up artistry services... so who wouldn't love a professional, well lit, non grainy, non-iPhone photo for their profile pic???

So, when I send *you* the pre-session questionnaire, let me know if you would like this addition to your session.  Please remember to bring/wear an outfit that will work for this scenario. ;)

   

What to wear: Morgantown West Virginia Boudoir Photographer

I would plan to bring three or four different outfits..... typically this is a mix of lingerie, momentos/items of his (i.e. a dressy man's work button down).   Past clients have also brought silky robes, a uniform shirt of the significant other, physician's lab coat, race medals, and bridal clients have brought their veil, corset or other bridal accessories.

Here’s my advice – pick tasteful pieces that really speak to your style (and if you want to go all out, do it!). Lace is good! Silk is beautiful! There’s no one right way to do this, so don’t try to do what you think you should – do what works for you! If you are modest, choose a strappy tank-top for part of your session- or a sheer shirt.

Think beyond just bra and underwear sets – silk robes, negligees and one of his dressy button down shirts are just a few ideas to consider. Hit Victoria’s Secret, Fredericks and similar stores/online shops to get an idea of what’s out there. Another fantastic source is Etsy.com – do a search for retro lingerie or just lingerie – there are some wonderful things on that site that you won’t find anywhere else.

I’m really happy to share with you that I’ve started collecting accessories and vintage pieces to share with clients for their KOP boudoir sessions. 

Perhaps the most important thing to bring is a sense of who you are. Bring his favorite guitar if you can sneak it out! Bring the necklace he gave you or the reading glasses he says make you look like a sexy librarian. And don’t forget to bring great shoes. Sexy heels, strappy sandals, fun evening shoes. One client even brought the heels she wears daily to work – she said her husband adored them!

Jewelry is essential to any boudoir session. Dangling, teardrop earrings to statement necklaces: it all adds an accent and focus to the images. Depending your personality, this may be your everday jewerly or possibly a bit "extra" but can be re-used for special occasions.

I personally own the serenity stone drops in navy blue & love them. I couldn't decide between pink & navy, and my BFF reminded me how often I wear blue/gold for the mountaineers- I went with blue! The pink; however, are next on my list to order!

After chosing whether your personality is dangling earrings or something more like plain pearl studs, decide which type of necklace is more "you"....

Four Boudoirs in Two Weeks: What the Clients are Saying | Morgantown, WV Boudoir Photography

As the title explains, I have done *four* boudoir sessions in the past 2 weeks!  I love the empowerment women get after the view their gallery of images!  A past boudoir client said it best... "Sadly,I think we as ladies pick apart our own bodies."  My hope is that through seeing themselves as I see them through my camera, they will see beauty instead of imperfections.

My husband is receiving this as a Valentine's gift.  I knew I wanted to do this for sometime....what finally convinced me was when my girlfriend agreed to go with me and do this as a duo!  So fun!!!  My favorite is the one where I'm on the floor with my legs on the wall--makes my legs look SO much longer than they are!  Would highly recommend a boudoir session for any female.  Self confindence booster; made us feel beautiful.

Who is receiving this gift? My Husband for valentines day. What helped you finally decide... "Ill do it!" My girlfriend, we did our session together! Which photo is your fave and why? The very last one. I looked the best and, I love the black & white! Would you recommend a boudoir session to others? Definitely! So much fun and I felt so comfortable. The photos turned out great. 

Sorry I missed the HF4F post this week! My hubby and I had an overnight trip to Pittsburgh Saturday, and Friday evening was spent with a boudoir client ;)  Will update y'all on our trip tomorrow!

What is boudoir photography?

You may have heard of one of the latest trends in wedding photography. Hint: It involves the bride wearing a lot less than her gown. Boudoir photography is definitely gaining popularity among to-be brides, but what's it really all about? Find out whether these risque pics are for right you.

So, what is boudoir photography exactly?

Boudoir photography is a sexy new trend that's especially popular as a wedding day gift from a bride to her groom. Boudoir photos are usually taken wearing either just a little, or well, nothing at all. They're hardly X-rated though, but rather PG-13 -- as in classic pinup-inspired pics, or what the pros call 'implied nudes.' That means you're not wearing anything, but you're also not showing off anything either (think shot from the back, or lying on your stomach).

Who will take my pictures?

Many wedding photographers have embraced this trend -- your shutterbug may offer this as an additional service. An added bonus of going with a pro: Many brides like to have the best of their boudoir photos bound in a mini album just for their hubby, a service many wedding photographers are able to arrange. In some cities, you may also be able to find services that specialize in boudoir photography. While the shots you get may not be as high quality as those of a high-end wedding photographer, there can be other perks --like closets full of potential wardrobe items or props.

When should I schedule the session?

If you're spending time and money on an exercise and beauty routine, you may want to wait until a week or so before the wedding to show off the results. Plus, a fun and pampering photo shoot is a good way to indulge and take some time out from wedding planning. Though you might be inclined arrange for the session on the morning of your wedding, resist the urge. For one, you're not likely to feel very sultry if the rain clouds looming over your outdoor ceremony site are the first thing on your mind. Second, do you really want your to-be mother-in-law walking in on you while you're posing in just your veil? Stick with a separate shoot so you'll have time to really feel comfortable and get some great shots.

How long does it take?

Though it depends on the package you choose, your boudoir photo session will probably last about two hours. Why so long? It takes time for hair and makeup, plus the additional lighting setup. It may also take you a little while to relax. Most brides aren't used to lounging around wearing little, if any, clothing in front of the camera, so your first few shots will likely look a bit stiff.

What does it cost?

Cost varies considerably -- do a little investigating before you commit to a vision of what you want. Multiple set changes, renting props, or simply time spent can add up quickly. If you can add a private session onto your wedding package, you may be able to get a better deal than if you go with a different wedding photographer. The real key, of course, is whether you gel with your photographer -- if you don't feel comfortable, it will show on camera.

Where should I have it done?

Talk with your photographer to come up with the best location. Many photographers may be able to do a photo session in a studio. Another popular site is a posh hotel room. Your own home or a borrowed home is another option. The main key is to get an okay from your photographer on the locale -- a number of different backgrounds for poses are important, and they'll also need lots of natural light.

What should I wear?

The most important thing -- choose outfits that make you feel sexy. A good rule of thumb: Bring something white, something black, and something in a bright color so you can mix and match. A corset will create sexy curves. In addition to lingerie, don't forget shoes, jewelry, and that engagement ring.

Should I bring anyone along?

Though you don't want to turn your shoot into a three-ring circus, it's a good idea to bring a friend. Why? You'll feel more at ease if you can make a few jokes with a pal, plus she may be able to help with suggestions. Another idea: Bring a bottle of bubbly. A little champagne may help loosen things up. You'll be posing like a pro in no time -- but of course, this is a one-time-only exclusive for a very special audience (your very lucky groom).
